Styx and Ted Nugent donate $108,000 to Boston Marathon victims

On Wednesday (10Jul13), Dzhokhar Tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to 30 counts, including use of a weapon of mass destruction to kill, during his arraignment hearing in a Boston federal court.

Rockers Styx, Ted Nugent and Reo Speedwagon have helped raise $108,000 (GBP69,677) for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings after donating a portion of the proceeds from their joint tour to charity.

Three people were killed and another 264 were injured when brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev allegedly planted two pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the annual race in Massachusetts on 15 April (13).

The tragedy captivated America and prompted the rock stars to host silent raffles at each of their Rock ‘N’ Roll Express tour dates and give up a portion of their total earnings to relief charities, and they have handed $108,000 to the Boston One Fund, which was launched to provide financial aid to those affected by the attack.

A statement from Nugent reads, “The Nugent band and family are surrounded by Americans who care deeply about each other and are dedicated to give all we got in times of need.”
