Events planned to mark Roy Rogers' 100th birthday

“No-one challenged the imagination of millions of baby boomers more than Roy Rogers,” said Patrick Gottsch, founder and president of RFD-TV.

The celebration of what would have been Roy Rogers’ 100th birthday will be no small affair, with events planned over a two-month period.

Events kick off on November 5 and culminate at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena on January 2 next year, with a spectacular float entitled “Happy Trails”.

Rogers’ faithful companions, his palomino horse Trigger, and Bullet “The Wonder Dog”, are at the start of the float while Roy (Dusty) Rogers Jr, along with his son and Roy’s grandson, Dustin Rogers, and their band, The High Riders, stand behind the duo serenading the crowd with the “Happy Trails” theme song.

It is scheduled to be the final float in the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade.

The national celebration begins on November 5, 2011, at 8:30pm EST, with a one-hour live broadcast special from the Apple Valley, California hometown of Roy Rogers. The concert features Dusty and Dustin Rogers and their band.
