Kevin Allred, a professor at Rutgers University was visited by NYPD and taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York City for a psychiatric evaluation after campus police said he made threats to kill white people.
A Rutgers spokesman says Rutgers Police Department contacted the NYPD after a student filed a complaint in regards to statements Allred made on campus, and for the following tweet:
Allred says the comments he made in class and on Twitter were rhetorical political statements, and he claims officials were trying to intimidate him for exercising his right to free speech.
After NYPD showed up at Allred’s house, he posted the following Twitter updates, and went on to claim that the doctors thought the evaluation for his threats was “ridiculous” and a”waste of resources.”
NYPD just came to my house bc Rutgers Police told them i’m a threat based on political statements i’ve made on campus and on twitter.
