Too little too late?
Ironically, the world leader who was named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” due to her liberal immigration policy is singing a different tune when it comes to the refugee crisis.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared at her political party’s convention on Monday that Muslim migration must be cured because, in her words, “multiculturalism is a ‘life lie.'”
“The challenge is immense … We want and we will reduce the number the number of refugees noticeably.”
While it may seem Merkel has done an about face, the German leader did make similar statements several years ago in which she ceded that multiculturalism has “failed utterly.”
“Of course the tendency had been to say, ‘Let’s adopt the multicultural concept and live happily side by side, and be happy to be living with each other.’ But this concept has failed, and failed utterly,” she said in 2010.
