Toyotas for terrorists? Treasury investigates

Feds want to know why ISIS has so many company trucks.

Toyota is in trouble, as the U.S. Treasury Department is demanding to know why so many ISIS terrorists have been seen and pictured in propaganda videos driving the company’s pickups and other vehicles.

The Japanese automaker, meanwhile, said it’s innocent and “has a strict policy to not sell vehicles to potential purchasers who may use or modify them for paramilitary or terrorist activities,” CBS News reported.

The company also said it has protections and contractual commitments in place that are supposed to keep their vehicles from being sent to those who would use them for unauthorized fighting and military uses. At the same time, Toyota also said no protections are foolproof.

“It is impossible for any automaker to control indirect or illegal channels through which our vehicles could be misappropriated, stolen or re-sold by independent third parties,” Toyota said in a statement.
