Student Is Suing School After Being Suspended For Asking Teacher To Speak English

The Arizona Constitution clearly states that, “Representatives of government in this state shall preserve, protect and enhance the role of English as the official language of the government of Arizona.”

Last year, Terri Bennett, a nursing student at Pima Community College (PCC) in Arizona was suspended after she requested that he class be taught in English.

Bennett was called a “bigot” for requesting that her Nursing Studies class be taught in English on a course evaluation. The school suspended her for “discriminating against Mexican-Americans” and being a “bigot and a b*itch.” Apparently, she was even escorted off campus by administrators.

Now, Bennett is suing the school in partnership with ProEnglish, an English language advocacy group. The trial will begin in March.
