Conservative Film ‘The Arroyo’ Takes On America’s Unprotected Border

“2,000 Miles of Undefended Border. One Man Draws a Line.”

Conservative filmmaker Jeremy Boreing hopes his new feature film, The Arroyo, which premiered Wednesday at the ArcLight Theater in Sherman Oaks, CA, helps stir debate about the reality of the human and drug trafficking violence on America’s southern border.

The Arroyo is a modern western that takes an unflinching look at the reality of the toll the drug trade is taking on American ranchers along the Arizonan border. It follows rancher Jim Weatherford (Kenny Maines), who after finding a dead body on his land, decides to take measures into his own hands and block the coyotes (human and drug traffickers) from crossing his land. When the head of the cartel sends in hit-man, Torres (David Armendariz), to take care of the problem, the result is a modern day O.K. Corral.

The world premiere of The Arroyo was held January 21st in Lubbock, TX. A majority of the filming took place in Lubbock and Garza counties and much of the onscreen talent was drawn from the area. Audience reactions were strong, and the film was held over for a third week after a string of sold-out showings.
