Riverside, CA: Eastside’s unsolved slayings prompt arrests, police raids

In a massive effort to solve four Eastside slayings, Riverside police led raids this week on 22 locations and made about 20 arrests in hopes of uncovering evidence of what investigators believe were largely gang-related killings.

“We believe that East Side Riva is involved in at least three out of the four,” homicide Sgt. Dan Russell said of the unsolved cases.

Each victim — including a 14-year-old boy — died of gunshot wounds. The first of those killings dates back nearly two years. Since then, police repeatedly have sought the public’s help through community meetings and cash rewards for information. Each time, they came away empty-handed.

“We have received nothing (helpful) on any of these incidents,” Russell confirmed.
