Is Leftist School Indoctrination Unstoppable?

The result is a student population ignorant of the basic facts of history, the vacuum filled with melodramas of victimization, racism, oppression, and violence that cast the United States as a global villain guilty of crimes against humanity.

Rush Limbaugh weighed in recently on the Republicans’ on-going debate about what went wrong in November. Elaborating on his earlier comment that he was “ashamed of America,” Limbaugh said, “The Left has beaten us. They have created far more low-information, unaware, uneducated people than we’ve been able to keep up with . . . I’ve always had a Civics 101 view of the country: People get what they want, they vote what they want, and they get the way they vote.” He added that the Democrats “control the education system . . . pop culture, movies, TV and books” and use that control to create “dependency” among voters.

Some may think this is a dog-bites-man observation, but it’s worth looking more closely at the most important item in Limbaugh’s list––the educational system. Everything else Limbaugh mentions is made possible because of the deep corruption in public education from kindergarten to university.

We often focus on the ideological biases of the university, where the more lunatic examples of political correctness get the most attention. But in education as in economics, there is a trickle-down effect. The grandees at the elite universities train the PhD’s who go on to second and third tier institutions, where they in turn train the students who get high school and grade school teaching credentials. They also write most of the textbooks that end up in K-12 classrooms. Thus the progressive ideology metastasizes throughout the educational system, determining the curriculum, the textbooks, and the point of view of the teachers. At that level the ideas may be garbled, half-baked, incoherent, and a collection of clichés and slogans. But they are still toxic and effective at transmitting a world-view to impressionable minds.

Judge Napolitano: Obama’s Legal Justification For Drones Is Hogwash

Judge Andrew Napolitano joined Megyn Kelly on America Live this afternoon to discuss the recent revelation by former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs that he was told to never admit to the existence of the CIA drone program.

RINO-Lution: Christie Caves on Obamacare, Will Take Federal Medicaid Funds

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will agree to expand the state’s Medicaid program under Obamacare on Tuesday.

According to the Newark, NJ-based Star-Ledger, Christie will announce the expansion when he unveils the governor’s new budget in a 3 p.m. speech to a joint session of New Jersey’s Legislature on Tuesday.

Christie joins Florida’s Rick Scott and Virginia’s Bob McDonnell as two Republican governors who have completely reversed course on the issue after rejecting addition Medicaid funds.

As recently as last summer, Christie had suggested that he would refuse the Medicaid expansion. As he told Fox & Friends in July: “Medicaid is pretty well expanded in our state already because of the legacy of previous Democratic governors. So, I don’t think there’s a lot for us to do in New Jersey in that regard.”

Likewise, McDonnell had said in July: “Expanding Medicaid without fixing Medicaid is a terrible idea.”

Christie and McDonnell were both elected in 2009 in the first wave of Tea Party-supported Republican campaigns. McDonnell is leaving office after this year; Christie is widely favored to win re-election.

Morrissey: Straight Men to Blame for War

The singer, known both for his work with The Smiths and his solo recordings, says straight men’s zest for killing leads to a planet teeming with conflict.

British singer Morrissey may have figured this whole “war” thing out.

“War, I thought, was the most negative aspect of male heterosexuality. If more men were homosexual, there would be no wars, because homosexual men would never kill other men, whereas heterosexual men love killing other men. They even get medals for it. Women don’t go to war to kill other women. Wars and armies and nuclear weapons are essentially heterosexual hobbies.”

Tell that to Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims.

Morrissey, an avowed vegetarian, is also making news this week for turning down an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live because he would be forced to share a stage with some of the stars of TV’s Duck Dynasty reality show.

Pat Buchanan – Infantile conservatism

Remarkable. Our uncles and fathers turned the Empire of the Sun and Third Reich into cinders in four years, and this generation is all wee-weed up over Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Jennifer Rubin

Regularly now, The Washington Post, as always concerned with fairness and balance, runs a blog called “Right Turn: Jennifer Rubin’s Take From a Conservative Perspective.”

The blog tells us what the Post regards as conservatism.

On Monday, Rubin declared that America’s “greatest national security threat is Iran.” Do conservatives really believe this?

How is America, with thousands of strategic and tactical nuclear weapons, scores of warships in the Med, Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, bombers and nuclear subs and land-based missiles able to strike and incinerate Iran within half an hour, threatened by Iran?

Iran has no missile that can reach us, no air force or navy that would survive the first days of war, no nuclear weapons, no bomb-grade uranium from which to build one. All of her nuclear facilities are under constant United Nations surveillance and inspection.

And if this Iran is the “greatest national security threat” faced by the world’s last superpower, why do Iran’s nearest neighbors — Turkey, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan — seem so unafraid of her?

Citing The Associated Press and Times of Israel, Rubin warns us that “Iran has picked 16 new locations for nuclear plants.” How many nuclear plants does Iran have now? One, Bushehr. Begun by the Germans under the shah, Bushehr was taken over by the Russians in 1995, but not completed for 16 years, until 2011. In their dreams, the Iranians, their economy sinking under U.S. and U.N. sanctions, are going to throw up 16 nuclear plants.

Come And Take It – Steve Vaus

“Mr. President, members of congress, you’ve been making a lot of noise about taking our guns away. But you might want to review history.”

Farrakhan Urges Black Americans to Collectively Purchase Land and Recruit Gang Members to Protect It

But the more intriguing portion of the speech focused upon gangs and efforts to seek leaders and members of these groups out for the sole purposes of protecting the Nation of Islam.

Minister Louis Farrakhan speaks during the Saviours’ Day annual convention at the U.I.C. Pavilion in Chicago, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

The Minister Louis Farrakhan, 79, delivered his annual Saviors’ Day sermon on Sunday. As is usually the case, the three-hour address covered a variety of topics ranging from current events to the faith leader’s contentious views on race relations. Of particular note was an economic plan he posited — one in which African Americans would come together to invest in land — and a pledge to reach out to gang leaders to ask them for assistance in protecting the Nation of Islam’s interests.

The Saviors’ Day address is generally a mixture of sermon and lecture. The event commemorates the founding of the Nation of Islam, which has espoused black nationalism and self-reliance since the 1930s. When President Barack Obama was elected in 2008, the resounding tone of the convention was jubilant, but Obama’s re-election took a back seat Sunday as Farrakhan said blacks still had to rely on themselves, and not leaders, to improve their situation.

“Even though one of our own has reached the highest pinnacle of the American political system, his presence has not, cannot and will not solve our problems,” Farrakhan told the crowd of men wearing navy uniforms and women dressed in white shirt suits and matching hijabs.

With 10,000 people in attendance and with a video stream of the event airing online, the reach was relatively large.

How Radical Congressman Raul Ruiz Fulfilled His American Dream: Debt

His annual congressional salary is $174,000. In disclosure forms filed before the June 2012 Democratic primary, Ruiz listed assets of $273,000 to $795,000, including cash, retirement accounts and stock in Apple, Microsoft, Visa and Coca-Cola.

Earning four degrees from UCLA and Harvard helped Rep. Raul Ruiz become an American success story as he escaped the poverty of his youth, became a respected doctor and ascended to the halls of Congress.

But that elite education also came with a hefty price tag, and Ruiz is years away from paying off his college loans.

The Palm Desert Democrat owes $150,000-$200,000 on debt he incurred to earn a bachelor’s degree at UCLA and a medical degree from Harvard University. His debt load would’ve been higher if not for scholarships, which paid for graduate degrees in public policy and public health he picked up while at Harvard, he told The Desert Sun.

The freshman lawmaker elected Nov. 6 is one of 41 House members and five senators who haven’t fully repaid loans they took out for themselves or their children, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. That finding comes from the group’s analysis of financial disclosure documents filed by incumbents and challengers last year. Those documents cover 2011.

The next round of disclosures, covering 2012, are due in the spring. That will be the first time Ruiz reveals information about his personal finances as a member of Congress.

Like millions of Americans, the 40-year-old Ruiz said he’s been making monthly payments, which will continue for many more years until the debt is cleared. He said he couldn’t recall exactly how much he pays, but estimated it’s about $1,000 a month, electronically transferred from his account to his creditors.
