Family moves out to escape racial tensions in Woodridge after peace talks

Police claim social media was one of the biggest contributors to the racial war that started as a neighbourhood dispute in Woodridge and led to days of violence.

This morning the indigenous Briggs family packed up their belongings from Douglas St, Woodridge and moved to the Gold Coast.

Tim Briggs, the father, told the ABC discussions on Tuesday night had produced an “agreement” between two families to help resolve the racial tensions which have simmered for the past four days between Aborigines and Pacific Islanders.

“We want to move on now, and leave everything behind us and leave on a good note,” he said.

“Thank God it’s over. We came together and made some sort of an agreement.”

“At the end of it (the talks) they were joking and laughing,” said Inspector Dave Nevin, from the Logan district.
