NBC reported the shooter was armed with a Sig Sauer 9 mm pistol, “two loaded magazines with 15 rounds each in the suspect’s backpack, as well as Chik-fil-A promotional materials.”
Local and federal investigators work to gather evidence outside FRC headquarters.
According to the Associated Press, the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting at the Washington, D.C. office of the Family Research Council has been identified as Floyd Corkins, 28, of Herndon, Virginia.
David Mariner, executive director of The DC Center for the LGBT Community, said Corkins has worked as a volunteer at the center for about the past 6 months, Newser reported.
Mariner described Corkins as “kind, gentle and unassuming,” Newser added.
But the man who shot a security guard at the FRC Wednesday was anything but “kind, gentle and unassuming.”
According to reports, Corkins entered the FRC about 10:45 Wednesday morning, began arguing with the security guard and eventually shot him.

“Four boxes of additional ammunition” were found in his car, which was apparently towed from a Falls Church Metro station, NBC said.
“Don’t shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for,” the suspect reportedly said.
