Trump says American Jews ‘no longer love Israel’ and Jewish people ‘run The New York Times’

Former President Donald Trump said Jewish people “no longer love Israel.” He also said that Jewish people “run The New York Times.” The comments, echoing antisemitic tropes, came in an interview with Israeli journalist Barak Ravid.

Former President Donald Trump shared what he thought about American Jews in a recent interview with the Israeli journalist Barak Ravid published on Friday by the podcast “Unholy: Two Jews on the news.”

“People in this country that are Jewish no longer love Israel. I’ll tell you, the evangelical Christians love Israel more than the Jews in this country. It used to be that Israel had absolute power over Congress. And today I think it’s the exact opposite,” Trump told Ravid.

“I’ve said this for a long time: The Jewish people in the United States either don’t like Israel or don’t care about Israel,” he said later.

“The New York Times hates Israel, hates them. And they’re Jewish people that run The New York Times — I mean, the Sulzberger family,” Trump went on, referring to A.G. Sulzberger, who is publisher and chairman of the newspaper.
