Why is a movie about a cowboy and Native American costing so much money?

What I want to know is what will these “visual effects” consist of? Are the rumored werewolves still going to be in it? Are we going to be seeing Johnny Depp raise an army of undead animals? Maybe his bird hat will grow into a giant, flying bird that battles giant worms?

Disney’s The Lone Ranger has been dealing with budget issues since its start. It was delayed originally because the budget of $250 million was too high. The movie went back into production once Disney, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski were able to come up with an agreement to lower down the cost down to $215 million. Well, it looks like Verbinski decided to make the movie expensive again, with reports of the budget going over $250 million now.

Disney is trying to have Verbinski cut out more scenes to keep the cost down. But why is a movie about a cowboy and Native American costing so much money? According to sources, it’s due to the visual effects, trains built from scratch, set damage from the weather and more.
