Home of gangsta rap seeks to limit speech on Talk Radio (Video)

“Never have I seen anything close to this and you’re about to lose your freedom of speech and it will start with talk radio and it will grow from there. What’s happening in Los Angeles won’t stand, but it should be a sign of the times and hopefully we’re building things at GBTV that will have us the last people standing.”

The Los Angeles City Council has declared war on talk radio and are proposing new laws that would restrict what radio hosts can and cannot say during broadcasts. Quite an interesting stance to take given it is Los Angeles – the home of gangsta rap, Hollywood and the porn industry. Says a lot about what they find offensive.

“They are basically banning talk radio in Los Angeles. Freedom of speech is on the ropes. This won’t stand. There’s just no way they can do. The city council can’t do this, but I’m telling you, they’re going to attack on all fronts and first it will be talk radio,” Glenn said.

CBS Radio in Los Angeles reports:

The City Council has approved a resolution calling on local TV and radio stations to limit any “racist” and “sexist” comments on their broadcasts.

The City Council voted 13-2 to pass the resolution with a motion urging “the management of radio and television stations in Los Angeles to do everything in their power to ensure that their on-air hosts do not use and promote racist and sexist slurs over public airwaves in the City of Los Angeles”.
