Ill. Bill Would Ban Terrorists from Teaching at Tax-Funded Colleges (Video)

“Our military forces are dying every day to fight for our freedom here, and it seems like we’re just slapping the military in the face when we hire a terrorist to teach our youth,” State Rep. Charlie Meier said.

An Illinois state legislator has introduced a bill that would ban convicted terrorists from teaching at taxpayer-funded colleges in Illinois.

State Rep. Charlie Meier says that if sex offenders can’t teach, neither should terrorists. His legislation would prevent anyone convicted of a crime related to terrorism from teaching at state colleges and universities.

The University of Illinois system has hired multiple convicted terrorists – including James Kilgore, a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army, the group that kidnapped Patty Hearst. Kilgore was convicted of murder in a 1975 bank robbery that left a woman dead. He spent 30 years in hiding before he was extradited to the U.S., where he spent six years in prison. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign hired him after his release.

Bill Ayers also taught within the school system, despite founding the Weather Underground, which claimed responsibility for a series of 1970s bombings. He never apologized and taught in Illinois for 23 years.
