Spin of the Week: Obama, ‘Coyote-In-Chief’

This week’s winner: Rush Limbaugh for his riff on the Honduran refugee pilot program being considered by the “Coyote-in-Chief.”

In a segment Friday titled “Barack Obama: Coyote-In-Chief,” Limbaugh unloaded on the president for a new $47 million pilot program being considered by the administration that would “cut out the middle man” by sending an immigration team to Honduras to grant refugee status to Honduran children and then fly them straight here, rather than force them to make the perilous trek across Mexico to the U.S. The New York Times cites Obama administration officials who said they think the president can enact the program via executive action, thus bypassing Congress. Critics of the proposal argue that it would of course only escalate the crisis and would essentially redefine refugee legally.

Here are Limbaugh’s opening remarks on the plan:

I should have seen it. It was right in front of my face and you know why it didn’t occur to me? It’s because it’s so outrageous. President Barack Obama, it is said, is considering the idea of granting refugee status to the children of Honduras. Now, that I predicted. That’s not what I missed. We all knew that was coming. I mean, ever since we began hearing the term “migrant” and “refugees,” as opposed to illegal alien, illegal immigrant. We knew that was coming.
