University of Idaho students being urged to avoid travel to Mexico during spring and summer break

The best advice is to avoid travel to Mexico altogether.

There has been a dramatic increase in drug cartel violence and criminal activity recently in Mexico, especially in popular tourist destinations frequented by high school and college students from America.

Bars, discos and nightclubs in resort cities like Acapulco, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Tijuana can be havens for drug dealers, criminals and organized crime…

In some cases these groups and individuals are targeting college students visiting Mexico on Spring Break…

As such University of Idaho students should avoid travel to Mexico and consider other destinations for Spring and Summer break this year.

It’s common knowledge that one of the most powerful drug gangs in Mexico is based in the state of Sinaloa, where Mazatlan is located, and the capital city, Culiacan, has the second-highest murder rate in the country.

Despite this fact Mazatlan remains a popular destination for many high school and college students from across America.
