In 2007, Family Security Matters contributing editor Peter Wagner, author of “The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration” queried the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with a simple question.

“Why don’t you track illegal alien crime?” The Justice Department’s answer? “Congress hasn’t told us to.”
On October 12, 2001, in the wake of the foiled plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian and Israel Ambassadors, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) introduced the “Illegal Alien Crime Reporting Act of 2011,” (IACRA)

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to allow this bill to have any hearings or a vote in the 110th & 111th Congresses. Rep. Brian Bilbray, (CA-50) Chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (CA-46) signed on as original co-sponsors of H.R. 3168, “The Illegal Alien Crime Reporting Act of 2011.”

House Speaker Boehner has referred “The Illegal Alien Crime Reporting Act of 2011” (H.R. 3168) to the Committee on the Judiciary, and Committee on Homeland Security.
