Tensions erupted in Paris as thousands of protesters took to the streets, vehemently opposing President Macron’s plan to send French troops to Ukraine as part of the “Coalition of the Willing.” The demonstrators, fueled by anger over the EU’s alignment with NATO’s military strategy, warned that the move could drag France into a devastating war. Public concern over mass conscription, as well as accusations that Macron’s military-driven EU policies are undermining peace efforts, sparked heated protests. With calls for diplomacy and a return to neutrality, the French public made it clear: if Macron continues his warmongering stance, he risks igniting a wave of unrest that could shake the foundations of the government itself.
There was a time when our civilisation was to be found throughout Africa and Asia, but we have retreated now to a small corner of the world. Even that last refuge is under threat though from without.
