Speaking on the House floor, Poe, R-Humble, blasted the Obama administration for both what he said was its own failure to enforce the law and for punishing states that do enforce them.
â€œThe federal government wonâ€™t or canâ€™t enforce immigration laws,â€ Poe said, â€so South Carolina has been forced to take matters into their own hands to protect their citizens. Weâ€™ve heard this tale before, about the federal government suing states like Arizona and Alabama.â€
