A case in point is Zachary Brewster and Sarah Nell Rusche’s article in The Journal of Black Studies titled “Quantitative Evidence of the Continuing Significance of Race: Tableside Racism in Full-Service Restaurants.” Brewster and Rusche analyze the “culture of white servers” in which white waitstaff allegedly infringe on black patrons’ civil rights by profiling them and providing them with poor service. The authors surveyed waiters and waitresses—people who earn most of their income through tips—and found that many of them assume that black patrons tip worse and display worse behavior than other groups.

This research documents a legitimate concern, but it is incomplete and typical of Black Studies research. A more complete study would consider black patrons’ actual tipping behavior.

Research such as that from Cornell’s Michael Lynn has shown that black patrons do, on average, tip less than other groups—even when controlling for other factors such as income, education, and service quality. Lynn pointed out in a meta-analysis that black patrons tipped between three and six percentage points lower than other groups. And seven percent of black patrons were reported “stiffing” their servers compared to only one percent of white patrons.

A larger understanding of so-called “tableside racism” would discuss both sides of the table. This vicious cycle is not begun and ended by white racism.

Eduardo Saverin’s decision to leave the United States with his money, but not his citizenship, has apparently touched a nerve in the Senate.

Sens. Chuck Schumer and Bob Casey held a press conference Thursday morning on Capitol Hill where they outlined legislation that would prevent the Facebook co-founder from ever returning to the United States.

Saverin, who now lives in Singapore, renounced his U.S. citizenship earlier this year. He will become astronomically wealthy on Friday when his former venture is listed on the NASDAQ. By renouncing his citizenship, Saverin is likely to avoid capital gains taxes on his Facebook shares.

Schumer called Saverin’s decision “outrageous” and labeled his tactics a “scheme.”

Tens of thousands of young people will soon toss their graduation caps into the air and begin their pursuit of their own unique American Dream. That’s cause for grand celebration.

Though I’m not a college graduate, I did graduate from the School of Hard Rock and Knocks and Common Sense some 50 years ago. With my trusty Gibson Byrdland guitar and a wall of amplifiers, I hit the road and received a Magnum-Cum-Very Loud Degree in logic, work ethic, pragmatism and pure animal tenacity.

As your not-so-humble Motor City Madman, I’d like to offer a few words to these new college graduates – words that no tenured professor ensconced in an ivory tower could possibly have taught.

Rule No. 1: Success has nothing to do with money. Nothing. Success is the unrelenting, dogged persistence to be the absolute best you can be at your chosen profession. Good is never good enough. Money always comes looking for the very best. Burn that into your psyche.

Rule No. 2:There are no guarantees and there never have been. The only guarantee is the gratification that comes from relentless effort, hard work and sacrifice, and even that is difficult to lasso in this tight job market. May I recommend following the U.S. Marine Corps mantra that has served all successful Americans forever: Improvise, adapt and overcome.

According to the annual report of the Trustees of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds, Social Security – which 45 million Americans depend upon – will be insolvent 3 years earlier than the government projected just last year. That means the wildly overspending Obama administration has knocked 3 years off the life expectancy of Social Security in just 1 year.

Social Security does not provide security. It provides looming insecurity for Americans.

Where did all the money go? Certainly not to America’s seniors who depend on Social Security. And not to the more than 10 million disabled Americans who depend on disability benefits. Their benefits are now projected to run out of money in just 4 years.

No money for seniors, no money for the disabled, and certainly no money for today’s workers and their children, who have long-since given up hope that Social Security will be there for them when they retire.

They are usually seen hanging around showrooms selling expensive cars. A gardener who works in the area, Selma Chaib, said: “The problem’s been getting worse as more turn up.

I’ve seen them coming out of Sainsbury’s in Marble Arch with big bottles of vodka at 9am.

“They leave bottles, bags and their own mess all over the place — it’s disgusting.

“I saw 50 of them playing dice for about 300 pound coins laid down on the ground.”

Another worker Abdul Mohammed, 36, said: “I’ve seen them in KFC begging for food” and also shopkeeper Said Aly, 60, said: “They sleep in underpasses and leave lots of mess.”

One of the Romanians was quoted as saying “The houses here are very nice. I came here from Romania today. We left Romania to find work. We can have a better life here.”

An Emmy award-winning filmmaker has decided he cannot stay silent in the face of a massive cover-up by the media complex and the Obama administration.

The magnitude of the government’s involvement in Operation Fast and Furious has roused documentarian Michael J. McNulty to stand up and call out the bad guys. Attorney General Eric Holder will figure prominently in McNulty’s feature length documentary, “Blood On Their Hands.”

McNulty was already familiar with Holder. In an interview on Breitbart.com McNulty stated, “Eric’s been busy in the cover up business for 20 years. We sorta know how he operates.”

Holder had become Janet Reno’s number two at Justice the same year McNulty’s1997 Oscar- nominated film “Waco: The Rules of Engagement” was released. When Reno recused herself from a 1999 special investigation of the 1993 raid on the Branch Davidian compound, Holder took over.

According to McNulty he wants the Fast and Furious film to answer one simple question:

Why would the Attorney General of the United States give our money and assault weapons to Mexican drug cartel members all in the name of the American people’s government?

Greece, the cradle of Western Civilization, seems destined to become either the West’s coffin or the site of its rebirth. The nation’s debt crisis, combined with the fact that it’s a primary entry point for illegal immigration into Europe—in 2010, nine of every ten “migrant” outlaws sashayed into the EU zone through Greece—have helped fuel violent street clashes between far-left (i.e., internationalist) and far-right (i.e., nationalist) factions for years.

Last week’s elections were largely a repudiation of the political center, specifically the EU’s financial stranglehold on Greece. Although unashamedly pro-communist parties won a far higher quotient of the votes, most media outrage was predictably focused on the fact that the nationalist party Golden Dawn received 7% of the total. Pundits referred to Golden Dawn’s minor victory as “absurd and repugnant,” “a dark day for Greece,” “a scary development,” “a political horror,” and all the other histrionic scare terms typically spewed by compliant media lapdogs trained to establish an immediate—although immediately fallacious—connection between the merest squib of nationalist sentiment and the Holocaust.

“Truly, they have not learned the lessons of history,” lamented one pundit. “Didn’t the Europeans learn anything from history?” wailed another.

Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama’s then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”

The booklet, which was distributed to “business colleagues” in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.

It also promotes Obama’s anticipated first book, Journeys in Black and White–which Obama abandoned, later publishing Dreams from My Father instead.
