Olivia de Havilland Film Festival at Stanford Theater will mark the actress’ 100th birthday

Olivia de Havilland’s 100th birthday will be celebrated in a style befitting the legendary actress with a two-month festival celebrating her life and her contribution to film. Seventeen of her films will be shown on the big screen in the historical Stanford Theater in Palo Alto, California, beginning with “The Adventures of Robin Hood” on May 6 and concluding with “Gone With the Wind” being shown over her birthday on July 1-3.

Both of Olivia de Havilland’s Academy Award winning performances from “To Each His Own” and “The Heiress” will be screened as well as her three nominating performances in “Gone With the Wind,” “Hold Back the Dawn,” and “The Snake Pit.” Two films will be screened each weekend starting on Friday followed by multiple screenings on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available at the box office on the day of the show. Ticket prices are $7.00 for adults, and $5 for Seniors (65 and over) and Youth (18 and under). You can also purchase a Gift Certificate for $24, which is good for four admissions. For any Olivia de Havilland fan, seeing any one of her films on the big screen will be a memorable experience.

The Stanford Theatre first opened in 1925, and it served for decades as Palo Alto’s premier movie house. In 1987, after a blockbuster Fred Astaire Film Festival, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation bought the theatre and restored it to its original splendor. It is now owned and operated by the non-profit Stanford Theatre Foundation, presenting classic Hollywood films. The renovated Stanford Theatre quickly became America’s most popular place to watch classic Hollywood movies. More people saw Casablanca at the Stanford Theater on its 50th anniversary in 1992 than anywhere else in America.

Event: Climate Hustle – The Movie

“Are they trying to control the climate … or you?”

Scorching temperatures. Melting ice caps. Killer hurricanes and tornadoes. Disappearing polar bears. The end of civilization as we know it! Are emissions from our cars, factories, and farms causing catastrophic climate change? Is there a genuine scientific consensus? Or is man-made “global warming” an overheated environmental con job being used to push for increased government regulations and a new “Green” energy agenda?

CLIMATE HUSTLE answers these questions, and many, many more. Produced by CFACT and CDR Communications in the one-of-a-kind entertaining and informative style that has made CFACT’s award-winning ClimateDepot.com one of the world’s most sought after sources for reliable, hard-to-find facts about climate issues, this groundbreaking film tears the cover off of global warming hype, and exposes the myths and exaggerations of this multi-billion dollar issue.

CLIMATE HUSTLE, hosted by award-winning investigative journalist Marc Morano, reveals the history of climate scares including global cooling; debunks outrageous claims about temperatures, extreme weather, and the so-called “consensus;” exposes the increasingly shrill calls to “act immediately before it’s too late,” and in perhaps the film’s most important section, profiles key scientists who used to believe in climate alarm but have since converted to skepticism.

CLIMATE HUSTLE will be in theaters for a one-night event on Monday, May 2nd, and will include an exclusive panel discussion following the film featuring Gov. Sarah Palin, climatologist Dr. David Legates, media watchdog Brent Bozell, film host Marc Morano, and comments from Bill Nye “the Science Guy.”

Event: Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2016

March 2-5, 2016, Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, 201 Waterfront St, National Harbor, MD 20745. Featured speakers include Carly Fiorina, Dr. Gina Loudon and Mark Levin.

ACU founded and hosts the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the birthplace of modern conservatism. CPAC combines ideas with action to leverage the strength of thousands of grass-roots activists to break through the resistance of Washington’s powerful elites.

The four-day conference begins with Activism Boot Camp, an unparalleled initiative that brings together the finest conservative organizations involved in activism training and campaign management. The remaining three days of the conference unite the political leaders of the conservative movement with the people who make up the movement. As President Ronald Reagan said in 1985, “CPAC is the opportunity to dance with the one who brung ya.”

The powerful combination of knowledge and activism is critical for the advancement of conservatism. Under its new leadership team, ACU has launched CPAC 365, a nationwide effort to do the work of CPAC year round. This initiative will ensure the growth and continued success of the grassroots conservative movement by keeping it educated, equipped and motivated for principled and effective action.

‘Lonesome Dove’ cast reunion set for March in Fort Worth

” ‘Lonesome Dove’ is a true American experience, and people have identified with it for decades because they believe they themselves have come from characters like Gus and (Woodrow) Call,” said Bill Wittliff, the screenwriter and co-executive producer of the miniseries. “Qualities like bravery, friendship and humor matter to us, and we like to see those qualities in other people.”

Gus and Call will be hitting the trail together again in March 2016 when the Wittliff Collections holds a reunion for the stars of the beloved TV miniseries “Lonesome Dove” at River Ranch in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Those who’ll be joining the reunion include Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Diane Lane, Anjelica Huston, Ricky Schroder and Glenne Headly. The event will be the centerpiece of a months-long celebration called the “Lonesome Dove Trail,” with live musical performances, silent and live auctions, and a tribute to author Larry McMurtry.

The events kick off Jan. 15, with museum exhibitions, a miniseries screening, panel discussions and a symposium at various locations around Fort Worth, with one venue in Albany, Texas. The exhibitions will feature costumes, props, photographs and other items on loan from the “Lonesome Dove” production archive, which is at the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University in San Marcos.

The cast reunion will be a ticketed event, with proceeds going to the Wittliff Collections, providing funds for future acquisitions. Tables and VIP sponsorships are available.

Event: Madison Rising to Rock ’13 Hours’ Premiere (Video)

Patriotic rock will ring in the premiere of “13 Hours,” Michael Bay’s take on the Benghazi terrorist attacks.

Madison Rising will take the stage before the film’s screening, to be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas Jan. 12. Tickets are free.

The patriotic band is known for their rock ballad version of “The Star Spangled Banner” and their tireless efforts to entertain military veterans. Conservative figures like Sarah Palin have publicly thanked them for their dedication.

“13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” marks a recent, and welcome, Hollywood trend: movies paying respect to military stories. For years, filmmakers too often avoided the rich and detailed veteran’s experience. Instead, they used soldiers as cinematic pawns to push their own political agendas. Naturally, Americans ignored these movies again and again.

Recent films like 2013’s “Lone Survivor” and 2014’s “American Sniper” showed Hollywood was ready to listen to audiences. That change paid off. Both film were highly profitable, with the latter snatching up significant awards attention, too. Neither movie paid much mind to politics. They presented their military stories with respect and honesty.

By all accounts, Bay’s “13 Hours” charts a similar course. The film opens nationwide Jan. 15, and focuses on the events of Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012.
