The Comanche tribe were nomadic people of the Great Plains. They hunted buffalo and lived in the territory known as Comancheria, which occupied todays west Texas, a part of New Mexico and Oklahoma. In the 17th century they acquired horses and quickly learned horse riding. Having horses meant the Comanche war tactics changed, they soon became masters of warfare, executing their famous Comanche raids under the Comanche moon. When it comes to horse archery they had no equals.
