Three additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal firebombing at a South El Monte tire shop that killed three teens in April, authorities said Monday.
German Monrreal, 20, Mario Godina, 19, and Estevan Castillo, 20, were arrested by Mexican State Police in Jalisco on Saturday, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department statement. They were flown to Los Angeles the following day and booked on murder and arson charges at the South Los Angeles Station.
The three suspects, who were identified by law enforcement in May, are being held without bail.
Godina appeared in court Monday afternoon but his arraignment was continued to Aug. 13. Monrreal and Castillo are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning.
“Detectives developed information that the suspects were hiding out in Mexico,” according to statement from the Sheriff’s Department. “Through the coordinated efforts of agents from the United States Marshal’s Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Taskforce and members of the Mexican State Police — Jalisco, the three suspects were taken into custody in Mexico without incident.”
