Washington said the suspects still wanted in the case are, Spencer Speedy Clark, Adan “Panzas” Garcia, Patrick “Little Grumpy,” Juan Jose “Sleepy” Rodriguez and Jose “Demon” Velasquez.
Gwinnett County police say they recently helped federal authorities in shaking up the “La Gran Familia” criminal network, arresting the Lawrenceville-tied leader of the group and a dozen others.
The two-year investigation found members of the gang — which is a parent to the gangs, “Latin Kings,” “Brown Side Locos,” “Malditos 13” and “Pachucos 21” — trading in cocaine, methamphetamine, Xanax, marijuana and firearms, police announced Tuesday.
Cpl. Deon Washington, spokesman for Gwinnett police, said the leader of the group, Miguel “Tops” Sanchez, has used addresses on the 2400 block of Waterford Park Drive and 3000 block of Dowry Drive in Lawrenceville. He is now in federal custody.
The investigation, which involved federal officers with at least five agencies, resulted in the arrests of 13 of 18 wanted suspects on May 20. In total, there were 38 state felony arrest warrants and 22 federal arrest warrants, Washington said.
During the operation, authorities seized a variety of contraband, including 1o firearms; $61,084 cash; 17.9 grams of marijuana; 302 Xanax pills; 8.7 grams of cocaine; and 957.62 grams of meth.
