Recently, Cal State Long Beach opened the Dream Success Center to offer career counseling and guidance on financial aid for the estimated 650 or so illegal immigrant students at the university.
It’s one of the largest universities in all of California with a student body numbering more than 35,000. Reportedly, quite a few of those students are illegal immigrants. So now California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) has set up a special resource center just for those “undocumented” students — the Dream Success Center.
Since 2001, the Golden State has allowed some illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at public colleges and universities. Then in 2011, the California Dream Act was made law, permitting eligible “undocumented students” to get state financial aid, despite their non-citizen status.
