Police Officer Given Life In Prison For Raping Women While On Duty

Just over a year ago, Alvarez was patrolling the streets of West Sacramento. Now he’ll be wearing prison garb behind bars as part of a 205-years-to-life sentence on sexual assault and kidnapping charges.

A former West Sacramento Police officer has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction on sexual assault charges.

Sergio Alvarez was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women while on duty – and in uniform – for the West Sacramento Police Department back on Feb. 27. His charges included numerous counts of aggravated assault and rape.

“This is one of the most disgusting cases that I’ve ever seen, because it involved a police officer who abused his position of trust and sullied the badge,” said Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig.
