Slap Shot – Hanson Brothers Debut

“The magic is as wide as a smile and as narrow as a wink, loud as laughter and quiet as a tear, tall as a tale and deep as emotion. So strong, it can lift the spirit. So gentle, it can touch the heart. It is the magic that begins the happily ever after.” – Unknown

Merle Haggard – Silver Wings

1940 Census opens window on history

“There’s a little bit more excitement this time because it is being released online and it’s immediately available to people,” says Rebecca Warlow, 1940 Census project manager at the Archives. “Anybody with Internet access can sit with their PC and desktops and search to their heart’s content. … Previous Censuses were released on microfilms.”

A Census enumerator interviews a woman in 1940. That year’s Census is the first to be made available to the public on the Internet initially, rather than on microfilm.

At 9 a.m. ET Monday, the federal government will unlatch a new window on history: 1940 Census records open to the public for the first time.

Also for the first time, the images of the logs painstakingly handwritten by Census workers who traipsed door to door to count all 132.2 million Americans living then will be available online immediately for free.

People’s names, addresses, ages and even more personal information such as their marital status, how many kids they had, how much they earned and what they did for a living were kept under wraps for 72 years — as required by a confidentiality law.

Every 10 years, another Census becomes public. Each time, historians and genealogy buffs go atwitter over the bounty of information that can help them trace family trees and draw an even more precise portrait of how Americans lived.

About 21 million Americans who show up in the 1940 records are still alive.

New Black Panthers: ‘Don’t Obey White Man’s Law’ (Video)

Muhammad: We have 40—30,000 people out here today—according to street law, according to God’s law. Andy, I want to say I don’t obey the white man’s law, I don’t follow the American law. The American law—the American law does not protect me, Anderson. I’m not a citizen. So I have no right to respect American law.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper questioned New Black Panther Party spokesman, Minister Mikhail Muhammad, over his group’s involvement in the Trayvon Martin case, exposing the party’s racism.

Cooper: But I mean, just—factually speaking, what you’re saying does not make sense that under the Constitution you can make a citizens’ arrest. You can’t arrest somebody if they have not been charged with anything that’s still being investigated.

Muhammad: Well, according to the street law, he has been charged with murder.

Seneca police referring assault case to federal authorities

As the group left, Moore said, he went to the restroom while his companions went to their vehicles. When he went into the parking lot, Moore said, he was taunted by members of a group of 15 to 20 blacks who called him names such as “tree honky” and “cracker”.

Six men have been charged with beating a North Carolina man and police say they are referring the case to federal authorities to see if the men might be charged with hate crimes.Seneca Police Chief John Covington said the investigation indicated that race was a factor in the attack, so the case file would be transferred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The men who have been charged are black. The man who was beaten is white.

The six men are charged with assault and battery by mob. They are Teryn L. Robinson, 18, Tray Devon Holland, 19, Justin Dimon Alexander, 20, Derick Lee Williams, 22, Kino Martinez Jones, 25, and Montrez Obrian Jones, 22.

Seneca police, along with Oconee County deputies and agents of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, arrested the six, all of whom are from the Seneca area, on Wednesday.

All were still being held late Wednesday in the Oconee County detention center.

The arrests followed an investigation that began March 17, when Seneca police officers arrived about 12:50 a.m. at the parking lot of Applebee’s at 696 By Pass 123 in response to reports of a man being beaten.

Anti-Sharpton Black Leader Rips CNN’s Roland Martin Over Trayvon Case (Video)

Rev. C.L. Bryant: “Whenever there is something like this that occurs like Tawana Brawley, or the Duke Lacrossee team, you can guarantee you that two faces will show up in order to heighten the tension in this type of situation and they’re usually Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson.”

Rev. C.L. Bryant

Rev. C.L. Bryant, former NAACP leader, takes on CNN’s Roland Martin over Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson “exploiting” the death of Trayvon Martin.

Rev. C.L. Bryant: “Whenever there is something like this that occurs like Tawana Brawley, or the Duke Lacrossee team, you can guarantee you that two faces will show up in order to heighten the tension in this type of situation and they’re usually Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson.”

CNN’s Roland S. Martin attempts to paint Rev. C.L. Bryant as someone who is uncaring of the greater black community because he has not made any updates to his Twitter or Facebook accounts in weeks.

“Let me go on record tonight and say let’s put your ideology on the table and let’s put my ideology on the table. I call you out tonight. We can meet in Chicago. We can meet in Newark and let’s see whose ideology best suits the traditional core values of a black American people. Let’s see whose ideas stand to muster. And I do accept whatever challenge you have but I throw down the gauntlet tonight. Let us have a test of the different ideologies, liberal and black conservative. Let’s do that,” Bryant said in response to Martin questioning his bona fides in the black community.

Muslim Gangs Terrorize Denmark

The immigrant gangs are involved in countless criminal activities, including drug trafficking, illegal weapons smuggling, extortion, human trafficking, robbery, prostitution, automobile theft, racketeering and murder. Many of the gang members are ethnic Arabs, Bosnians, Turks and Somalians. They also include Iraqis, Moroccans, Palestinians and Pakistanis.

“With Islam comes fear, and with fear comes power.”

More than 140 Muslim gang members were arrested in Denmark after they tried to raid a courthouse where two fellow Muslims are being tried for attempted murder.

The Muslims — all members of criminal street gangs that have taken over large parts of Danish towns and cities — were wearing masks and bullet-proof vests and throwing rocks and bottles as they tried to force their way into the district courthouse in Glostrup, a heavily Islamized suburb of Copenhagen, on March 6.

Police used batons and pepper spray to fend off the gang members, who were armed with an arsenal of 20 different types of weapons, including crowbars, darts, hammers, knives, screwdrivers and wooden clubs.

The trial in Glostrup involves two Pakistani immigrants accused of shooting and attempting to murder two fellow Muslims who belong to a rival gang. Police say the accused used a nine millimeter handgun to carry out the crime in Ballerup, a Muslim suburb northwest of Copenhagen. The trial began on February 28 and is scheduled to run through March 28.

The shooting was related to an escalating turf war between rival Muslim gangs from the Værebroparken housing estate in Bagsværd, a suburb of Copenhagen, and Nivå and Kokkedal in northern Zealand. Immigrant gangs are believed to be responsible for at least 50 shootings in and around Copenhagen during the past several months.

Latino organizations dismiss George Zimmerman, question his ethnicity

La Raza has rallied for Martin with the civil rights community as well. The organization’s urged so much in a March 22 post at the Huffington Post.

The death of Trayvon Martin has sent racial shock-waves through the country, and while the focus has largely been on anger from the black community, the fact remains that the alleged shooter, currently in hiding from vigilante threats, is a self-described Hispanic man.

But if George Zimmerman was hoping to find support in the Latino community, he should look elsewhere.

“The Latino community joins the African-American community and other communities in condemning George Zimmerman as what he is – a murderer and a racist,” Roberto Lovato, co-founder of the online Latino advocacy organization, told The Daily Caller.

The group is acting on Trayvon’s behalf. has joined with Color of Change to petition for the arrest of Martin’s murderer.

“Todos somos Trayvon! (We are all Trayvon!),” wrote, urging supporters to sign the petition. The group also has a petition to condemn Geraldo Rivera for blaming Martin’s hoodie for his death. According to Lovato, the petition currently has 18,000 signatures.

Mack speech goes off without incident

Prior to Sheriff Richard Mack’s arrival, the KCRCC had voted to rescind its invitation based on Mack’s past, which included his stance that he’s against the drug war, which he called a failed endeavor. Some members had said he didn’t represent the views of the Republican party. But the vote was overturned by the party leaders after an allegedly illegal proxy vote was included in the original vote count.

Richard Mack felt apprehensive about coming to Coeur d’Alene.

Speaking moments before he was to take the stage as the controversial keynote speaker during the Republican party’s primary fundraiser, Mack said he never felt as unwelcome as he did before coming to Coeur d’Alene.

“This has never happened to me before,” the Republican candidate in Texas for the U.S. House of Representatives told The Press about the decision by the local party to bar him from speaking.

But the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee re-invited Mack to speak at its Lincoln Day Dinner and Mack said he was glad to accept it – again.

“After I saw the crowd and talked to the people I felt good,” he said. “I guess I didn’t hurt attendance any.”

Approximately 400 people attended the dinner Saturday at The Coeur d’Alene Resort, around the normal amount the event brings in, organizers said. Mack’s speaking didn’t prompt a staged walkout or organized protest either. Rather, the former Democratic sheriff in Arizona and one-time Libertarian-candidate preached that the Republican party should adhere to the U.S. Constitution.

“(I find it) deplorable at times that those of us who quote the founding fathers and the Constitution are labeled as racist and extremist and bigots,” he said. “I was raised in a home where racism and bigotry were absolutely forbidden. That’s not who I am and never have been. My mom taught me to stand for what is right. And that is also something Abraham Lincoln said. He said ‘put your feet in the right place and then stand firm.’

A lesson in mass deception

Americans can only come to one conclusion when they are bombarded with this stuff day after day, week after week, month after month without any attempt to examine the actual facts and evidence on the table: The nation’s press is controlled. The only “conspiracy” here is the conspiracy of silence and gratuitous, ad hominem attacks and unfairness.

Most people really don’t understand how journalism works in America.

I do, because I have been an active professional in the industry for more than 35 years – as a reporter, editor, top news executive at daily newspapers, publisher, radio talk-show host, an instructor of journalism at a major university and the founder of the first independent news source on the Internet. In short, I have done everything one can do in the world of American journalism.

That’s why I thought it might be time for a lesson in how mass communication in America has transformed into mass deception.

On March 4, the Associated Press, the largest news-gathering organization in the world, distributed a propaganda screed thinly veiled as a news story by AP staff writer Jacques Billeaud about Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigation of Barack Obama’s eligibility to serve as president. You can read the entire story here, just one of more than 100 outlets that carried the piece with virtually no editing.

Here is an excerpt of that report:

“America’s self-proclaimed toughest sheriff finds himself entangled these days in his own thorny legal troubles: a federal grand jury probe over alleged abuse of power, Justice Department accusations of racial profiling and revelations that his department didn’t adequately investigate hundreds of Arizona sex-crime cases.

“Rather than seek cover, though, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is seeking to grab the spotlight in the same unorthodox fashion that has helped boost his career as a nationally known lawman.
