GOP record on illegals: 25 years of broken promises by Tom Tancredo

Today, after 25 years of posturing and broken promises, Americans can be forgiven for displaying a distrust of new promises. How about a plan of action, not a plan for more broken promises?

History is apparently not Newt Gingrich’s strong suit, despite the fact that he has a Ph.D. in history and taught it in college before entering politics. Probably he knows a lot about Greek or Roman history – but things that happened only 25 years ago? Don’t ask.

Gingrich suggests it would be “humane” to allow illegal aliens “who have been here 25 years, go to church and raise children in our communities” to have legal status. Of course, he then backtracked and said, let’s not do this until after we have border security.

That’s basically what we did in 1986 with the amnesty legislation that gave legal status to 3 million illegal aliens. Gingrich wasn’t in Congress yet, but surely he has heard of the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act. It was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan.

That amnesty was sold to Reagan and passed as part of a “bipartisan deal,” the terms of which were never honored. We were promised three things. First, this was to be a one-time amnesty, never to be repeated. Second, new laws were enacted to punish employers who hired illegal workers. Third, the border was to be secured.

All three promises have been broken. There have been numerous small amnesties enacted since 1986, and enforcement of the employer sanctions was never undertaken in a serious way. But by far the most egregious and hypocritical broken promise was that of border security.

Marco Rubio vs. Rand Paul By Patrick J. Buchanan

Like the Bourbons of old, the Republican Party seems to have learned nothing and forgotten nothing.

In August 2008, as the world’s leaders gathered in Beijing for the Olympic games, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, hot-headed and erratic, made his gamble for greatness.

It began with a stunning artillery barrage on Tskhinvali, capital of tiny South Ossetia, a province that had broken free of Tbilisi when Tbilisi broke free of Russia. As Ossetians and Russian peacekeepers fell under the Georgian guns, terrified Ossetians fled into Russia.

What makes this history relevant today?

Last week, Sen. Marco Rubio, rising star of the Republican right, on everyone’s short list for VP, called for a unanimous vote, without debate, on a resolution directing President Obama to accept Georgia’s plan for membership in NATO at the upcoming NATO summit in Chicago.

Rubio was pushing to have the U.S. Senate pressure Obama into fast-tracking Georgia into NATO, making Tbilisi an ally the United States would be obligated by treaty to go to war to defend.

Now it is impossible to believe a senator, not a year in office, dreamed this up himself. Some foreign agent of Scheunemann’s ilk had to have had a role in drafting it.

And for whose benefit is Rubio pushing to have his own countrymen committed to fight for a Georgia that, three years ago, started an unprovoked war with Russia? Who cooked up this scheme to involve Americans in future wars in the Caucasus that are none of our business?

The answer is unknown. What is known is the name of the senator who blocked it — Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul, who alone stepped in and objected, defeating Rubio’s effort to get a unanimous vote.

Calif. prison psychologist accused of faking rape

Martinez, her friend and two co-workers eventually told police the whole thing was a setup to convince Martinez’s husband that they needed to move from a blighted, high-crime area three miles north of the state Capital.

This photo provided by the Sacramento Police Dept. shows Laurie Ann Martinez. Martinez has been charged with faking her own rape in an unsuccessful bid to persuade her husband to move to a safer neighborhood in Sacramento, Calif.

She split her own lip with a pin, scraped her knuckles with sandpaper and had her friend punch her in the face. Investigators say she even ripped open her blouse, then wet her pants to give the appearance she had been knocked unconscious.

But it was all part of what authorities said Friday was an elaborate hoax by the woman to convince her husband she was raped so they could move to a safer neighborhood.

Charges filed by the Sacramento County district attorney allege Laurie Ann Martinez, a prison psychologist, conspired with the friend to create the appearance that she was beaten, robbed and raped by a stranger in April in her Sacramento home.

Martinez, her friend and two co-workers eventually told police the whole thing was a setup to convince Martinez’s husband that they needed to move from a blighted, high-crime area three miles north of the state Capitol.

It didn’t work. Instead, the couple filed for divorce six weeks after the April 10 incident, according to court records.

“If all you wanted to do is move, there’s other ways than staging a burglary and rape,” said Sacramento police Sgt. Andrew Pettit. “She went to great lengths to make this appear real.”

Sheriff: Time For Citizens To Arm Themselves (Video)

Sheriff Chuck Wright Doesn’t Hold Back.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff is known for speaking his mind, and at a news conference on Monday, he didn’t hold back his anger and frustration after a woman was attacked in a park over the weekend.

Investigators said 46-year-old Walter Lance grabbed a woman who was walking her dog in Milliken Park on Sunday afternoon. They said Lance choked the woman, made her take off her clothing and tried to rape her.

Lance is in custody and was denied bond on Monday.

Sheriff Chuck Wright opened his news conference by saying, “Our form of justice is not making it.”

He said, “Carry a concealed weapon. That’ll fix it.”

Seven detained after suspected gang rape

The flat where the suspected rape took place is owned by the Migration Board (Migrationsverket) and inhabited by asylum seekers.

Seven men have so far been arrested on suspicion of gang raping a 29-year-old mother of two in Eksjö, in the south of Sweden.

”We have a good body of evidence,” said Christer Edlund of the local police to the daily Aftonbladet.

According to the paper, the police suspect that as many as eleven men may have been involved in the attack. They are not ruling out that there may be more arrests in the near future.

The alleged assault occurred between Friday and Saturday at a party that the woman and the men had been attending.

According to the police, the woman was overpowered by a group of men who took turns brutally raping her.

Parts of the assault may also have been filmed, a police source told Aftonbladet.

Obama offers plan for U.S. to be global LGBT sex cop

Wants to import homosexuals with special asylum privileges.

The Obama administration has announced it intends to make the United States the global sex cop, with plans to try to intervene in the workings of other nations where homosexuality is not promoted as well as plans to create special provisions for homosexuals and those with other lifestyle choices to gain special admittance to the U.S.

Among the provisions is a specific call for the U.S. government to “enhance” its work to provide services to “LGBT refugees and asylum seekers.”

“Who knew when Reagan was talking about being a shining city on the hill the city would turn out to be Sodom,” said Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, an Illinois organization active in revealing the truth of homosexuality.

The White House statement is called the Presidential Memorandum – International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons.

In the introduction to the multi-section document, Obama explains that he’s already instructed agencies “engaged abroad” to start “taking action to promote the fundamental human rights of LGBT persons everywhere.”

“When a Communist ran for president, I suddenly went ‘Wait a minute, he’s a Marxist? Wait a minute!’ And I started researching, and I’m horrified, and I jumped out of my house the first Tea Party in L.A., and I was there on Santa Monica Pier with a sign that said ‘We don’t want no Socialism’ and I can’t go back, I know too much now.” Victoria Jackson
